There are numerous monuments in the market town of Puchberg am Schneeberg . These are shown below.

Most of it comes from the 20th century. After the tourist development of Puchberg am Schneeberg and Schneeberg began in the course of the 19th century , many monuments are dedicated to those people who were significantly involved in this development. The works of travel writers of the Romantic period, such as Franz Xaver Schweickhardt , J. A. Schultes or Franz Xaver Embel , triggered this development. Closely related to this was Puchberg's ascent to summer resort and the construction of the Schneebergbahn .

Description of the monuments

Christ Monument

The Christ Monument is located in the Schneebergdörfl district and was erected in 1868 to commemorate Jesus of Nazareth . In 1870 a tower and a bell were added.

steam train

In recognition of the importance of the railway for the town of Puchberg, the steam locomotive 92.2220, which once ran on the normal gauge Schneeberg Railway and was stationed in the heating house Puchberg, was set up next to Wiener Neustädter Straße . The locomotive, which had already been parked for scrapping, was rescued by railway enthusiasts and erected as a memorial.

Elisabeth Church

The Elisabethkirchlein is located on the Hochschneeberg directly next to the mountain station of the Schneebergbahn and was built in memory of Empress Elisabeth ("Sissi") who was murdered on September 10, 1898 .

Günther Schlesinger monument

The Günther Schlesinger monument is located near the summit of the 948 meter high Himberg on the so-called lizard rock . It was built in memory of Günther Schlesinger (1886–1945), the founder of Austrian nature conservation.

Hubertus Chapel

The Hubertus Chapel is on a secluded path that connects Knipfliz and Puchberg. It was built in 1980 and is a memorial to the hunter round . The Jägerrunde was founded in 1956 by Ottokar Freiherr von Chiari .

Kaiserstein

The Kaiserstein is the second summit of the Schneeberg with a height of 2061 meters and is located above the Fischerhütte . A memorial stone was erected on the Kaiserstein to commemorate the ascent of the Schneeberg by Emperor Franz I on August 10, 1805 and July 30, 1807. This memorial stone was damaged several times by lightning strikes, most recently in July 2002.

War memorial

The war memorial is located next to the parish church of St. Vitus and the local schools. It was erected in memory of the fallen and missing soldiers of the two world wars.

Leo Arnoldi memorial stone

The Leo Arnoldi memorial stone shows a cogwheel and a rack and is located at the valley station of the Schneebergbahn . It is reminiscent of Leo Arnoldi , who built the Schneebergbahn between 1895 and 1897.

Paul Kammerer Memorial

The Paul Kammerer memorial is located on the Himberg am Theresienfelsen and commemorates the natural scientist Paul Kammerer , who shot himself after a short stay in Puchberg on September 23, 1926 on suspicion of having falsified his experimental results.

Plague column

The plague column is on the municipal boundary near Wiener Neustädter Straße, next to the Sierningbach under two chestnut trees. It was built to commemorate the victims of the plague in 1713.

Sieber chest

The memorial was erected in memory of the Siebert family, who had the longest tradition of all Puchberg summer guests. You were also active in the creation of parks and landscape paintings in Puchberg.

Schoberkapelle

The Schober chapel was built on the Schoberalm on the border with Gutenstein and can be reached via the Sierningtal. The pasture cooperative holds a fair and an alpine farm day there every year.

Draw bench

The Ziehrerbank is a little away from Puchberg on Neunkirchner Straße. The bank was named after Carl Michael Ziehrer , who spent the summer of 1915 in Puchberg and went for walks there every day.
