Lom 57 dragonfly (serial number 15) (glider) | Siedlungsstraße 51 (map) |
1959 | Apart from a few changes due to the continuous use and partly already reversed, very authentically preserved testimony to the history of glider construction in the GDR, of technical significance, also as one of the few gliders of this type ever preserved and as the only consistently airworthy from this time of Rarity and great visual and experience value.
High-performance single-seater for thermal, speed and altitude flights as well as simple aerobatics. The dragonfly of the Lom 57 series was characterized by its solid, aerodynamically good construction with a surface that was as small and clean as possible (glide ratio 30), by simple and quick assembly due to the single-bolt quick-release coupling and the automatic rudder and brake flap connections (at that time a novelty in glider construction) and a brake flap system that is new for Lommatzsch gliders. The latter, however, was not overly effective due to the dragonfly's good gliding ability. The dragonfly was therefore superior to other gliders (not only from the GDR), especially in weak thermals.
