This list provides an overview of the locomotives manufactured by General Electric .
Initially, General Electric mainly supplied the electrical equipment for direct-current-electric and diesel-electric locomotives; the mechanical part mostly came from Alco . The locomotives were marketed from 1940 to 1953 under the name "Alco-GE". The vehicles produced between 1924 and 1935 together with Alco and the diesel engine manufacturer Ingersoll-Rand can be found in the list of diesel locomotives from Ingersoll-Rand .
