St. George St. George was built in the 12th century and a Gothic choir was added to the east in the 13th century. The central nave vault was only built in late Gothic form between 1609 and 1611. The vaulted pillar basilica with transept and octagonal crossing tower is closed off by a ⅝ choir. Ten arcades on round columns with cube capitals separate the central and side aisles. Arched friezes and pilaster strips structure the sandstone structure, which is plastered on the long sides.

St. Nicholas St. Nicholas was founded by Friedrich I as a hospital church, later handed over to the Premonstratensians and has been a parish church since 1208. Of the construction dates of today's church, only the consecration date in 1425 has survived. It is assumed that it was built at the end of the 13th / beginning of the 14th century. The column basilica with 11 bays is closed by two choir bays with ⅝-endings. A transept is missing. Smooth round pillars with foliage capitals carry circular services that hold the vaults. The square choir tower has an octagonal tower. The baroque furnishings come from the nearby Neubourg monastery .

Bee well The bee fountain was created for the Neubourg monastery between 1760 and 1777 . In 1866 it was moved to Ueberach and has been in its current location since 1886. The basin of the fountain corresponds to a quatrefoil. A column rises in the center, from which water flows from four outlets into a round basin and then into the main basin. On the pillar is a beehive, around which four angels are gathered. One of the turkeys is holding a coat of arms, the others are leafing through books.

Fountain The octagonal fountain basin was created in the second half of the 18th century. Originally there was a neo-Gothic column from the second half of the 19th century in the middle. This was replaced by a monumental bowl in 1885. The water flows from metal spouts from the mouth of lions directly into the pool.

Granary of the hospital The hospital's granary was built in 1423 as a three-story quarry stone building. The roof structure burned out during the city fire in 1677 and was only rebuilt in 1769 as a crooked hip roof. The building has four floors, each with a large hall, in the center of which a row of columns supports the ceiling. The building is structured by cantilevered storey cornices. Pointed arched windows illuminate the interior. You enter the building through a round arch portal.

hospital The building complex replaced a 12th century hospital in 1757 that was destroyed in a fire in 1677. The designs came from Georges-Joseph Barth . In 1883 the military hospital became a civil hospital. In the 1950s and 1960s the building was greatly expanded and modernized to the west. After the construction of a new clinic center on the southern edge of the city, the hospital became an old people's home. The three-storey plastered building consists of four building blocks, each with two parallel, one inside the other. The original main facade faces east. Pilaster strips and cornices structure the building. The central axes are highlighted on the west side of all three parts of the building. In the central structure, a central projection with a triangular gable (with a figural relief in the gable field) combines three of the seven axes. A roof turret sits in the center of the roof. Behind it, the building blocks form an inner courtyard. The baroque portal is closed off by a narrow söller .

Military and civil hospital Between 1783 and 1788 the military and civil hospital was built by the architect Charpentier. From 1788 the hospital was only used for civilian purposes as a royal decree abolished its status as a military hospital. But the hospital had to serve injured soldiers again and again, especially during the Napoleonic Wars. From 1812 the commune used the building as a poor house, from 1815 to 1818 it was used as barracks. From 1822 to 1960 the building was used as a women's prison. Then it was a forensic clinic for both sexes until 1984. The city's university has resided here since 1996. The symmetrically structured wing of the building has a slightly protruding central projectile with a rounded gable and two side projections with triangular gables, which are followed by two lower extensions. The four-story plastered building is closed off by a hipped roof with a central turret. Horizontal sandstone strips structure the ground floor and sandstone pilaster strips emphasize the corners. An eaves cornice on consoles completes the structure.

Hotel du bailli Hoffmann The Hoffmann family was one of the richest families in Alsace in the 18th century. The family had grown rich as a madder merchant , but also as a banker. Around 1770, François Joseph Ignace Hoffmann , known as Bailli Hoffmann , built a representative four-sided courtyard. The magnificent baroque facade is no longer completely preserved in its original form. The facade with nine window axes and three storeys is structured by pilaster strips and two distinctive storey cornices. In the center there is a gate passage to the inner courtyard on the ground floor, above a balcony with a wide portal with a round arch and a curved gable, which extends to the floor above.

Hotel Barth The architect Georges-Joseph Barth designed the Hôtel particulier himself. The three-story plastered building is strictly symmetrical. Pilaster strips and cornices separate the five window axes. The facade was slightly changed after a bank moved in. The wall on the ground floor is clad with sandstone. Arched portals sit in the outer axes. In the center of the second floor there is a balcony with a wrought iron railing on consoles. A baroque portal decorates the entrance and continues into the floor above with a French balcony and balustrade. The windows are equipped with segmental arches and wear masks over them.

Hotel du Commandant de la Place The representative building with a baroque facade was erected in 1700 for the royal commander at the city's expense. The two-storey plastered building is structured by pilasters and a cornice. On the garden side, a central risalit loosens the facade with 16 window axes. The windows are made of sandstone. This is crowned with keystones, and masks are attached to the central projections. A balcony on brackets is in front of the central axis of the risalit on the first floor. The window door is framed by a magnificent portal frame.

Hotel de Koenigsbruck The courtyard of the former Koenigsbruck monastery , located just outside the city, is an elongated plastered building with two storeys and was built in 1748 in the rural baroque style. In addition to a slightly asymmetrical gate entrance with a round arch, in the center there is a French balcony with wrought-iron grating, the portal gable of which is cranked with the balcony on the first floor above. An eaves cornice with a console frieze completes the building. Above the central window axis in the roof area there is a dwelling which takes up the structure of the structure. Other dwelling houses are simpler and designed with round gables.

Drying plant for pine cones In the 19th century, the Scots pine was one of the trees that the forest administration wanted to plant as a fast-growing reforestation tree. In order to obtain seedlings, the pinecones had to be dried. This happened on a large scale in drying plants. The first system of this type in France was set up in Hagenau in 1824, because the forest in the region with its 7,000 hectares of pine could provide a lot of seeds. But this system soon turned out to be unsuitable and so a new system had to be installed in 1844, which has been preserved to this day. A central oven made of bricks heated the air in the drawers with the seeds to 30 ° C to 45 ° C.

The building is an elongated plastered structure with high arched windows on the sides. The front is clad with horizontal sandstone bands. In the center of the facade are three mighty round arches as window axes, the middle one on the ground floor is the main entrance. Wide pilasters separate and limit the axes.
