Abbey Church of St. Peter and Paul Nothing remains from the early days of the monastery church. Destruction in the years 985 and 1004 is reported. In 1074 a new building was built, of which the square tower is still preserved today. The current church was started under Abbot Edelin at the end of the 13th century. The Gothic pillar basilica has two transepts, each with two-bay transept arms. These end in the south in a ⅝-apse Vorjoch, in the north directly into a 4 / 8 -Apsis. A choir with two yokes and a ⅝-end adjoins the transept. An octagonal tower sits on the crossing. The interior of the church is decorated with Gothic and Neo-Gothic works of art. The frescoes and wall paintings from the 14th to 16th centuries are a highlight. The exterior of the church is heavily based on the Gothic. The buttress with the simple pinnacles and the floor-to-ceiling windows with tracery are striking .

Geisberg Castle Geisberg Castle was built between 1694 and 1711 by Jean Gaspard de Hatzel as a spacious four-sided courtyard with a main house and ancillary buildings according to plans by the architect Rondouin. A baroque garden with an enclosure was attached to the main house. The castle was fiercely contested in both 1793 and 1870. During the Second World War, the castle was almost completely destroyed by fire in May 1940. Only parts of the base of the courtyard facade, two garden pavilions and a dovecote have survived.

Church of St. John the Baptist The exact date of construction of the church with its half-hip roof is unknown. It is first mentioned in the 8th century. The crossing and the square tower with a pyramid roof date back to the Hohenstaufen era. After the Reformation was introduced, the church was a Protestant parish church from 1523. A short transept adjoins the nave. This is followed by a chorus with a ⅝ ending. In the 14th century, another choir and a Stanislaus Chapel were added to the choir in the south, and a sacristy was added to the north. The flat roofed church has a side aisle to the north. Five arcades on octagonal pillars separate the side and central nave. The south portal with vestibule dates from the 16th century. The furnishings include rich wall paintings from the 14th century and a bust of Luther from the 19th century. A bronze lion head with a ring originally served as a door knocker to the sacristy and is now exhibited in the city museum.

Fortifications The foundation stone for the city of Wissembourg was the Benedictine monastery, which was founded in 631. The city itself was first mentioned in 1179 and had city fortifications from 1251. The two suburbs of Bannacker and Bruch were also fortified in 1311 and 1410. From 1354 Wissembourg belonged to the League of Ten Cities , from 1518 the city was independent of the monastery. Even though most of the fortification walls were torn down, the fortifications of the monastery district, the old town and the two suburbs are still visible today. A square tower from the 14th century has been preserved from the walls of the monastery. Rudiments of the rather simple walling of the old town and the suburbs, which were last renovated by Louis de Cormontaigne , have been preserved in the north and south-west of the city. In addition to the semicircular household Tower Powder Tower has been preserved.
