A region in Romania means :

• The historical regions, see List of Historical Regions in Romania and the Republic of Moldova
• The developing regions (planning regions), see planning regions in Romania
• The regions that were founded in 1938 by King Charles II . They only existed until 1940 . See regions of Romania (1938–1940) .
• The regions that were founded by the communist regime and were also administrative regions. They existed from 1950 to 1968 , but two administrative reforms were suspended:
