List of stumbling blocks in Oldenburg (Oldb)

The list of stumbling blocks in Oldenburg (Oldb) contains all stumbling blocks that were laid by Gunter Demnig in Oldenburg (Oldb) as part of the art project of the same name . They are intended to commemorate the victims of National Socialism who lived and worked in Oldenburg. With two relocations since November 2011, five stumbling blocks have been laid. (As of July 2019)

Nov 8, 2011 Erna Maria Evers was born in Deindrup near Vechta in 1924 . Together with her two siblings, the girl, classified as mentally handicapped, was moved from the St. Vincenz House in Cloppenburg to the Oldenburg Gertrudenheim in 1934 . In 1937 she was transferred to Blankenburg Abbey , where she died as a result of euthanasia on January 12, 1940 at the age of 15.

Otto Antonius Evers was born in Deindrup near Vechta in 1925. Together with his two siblings, the boy, classified as mentally handicapped, was moved from the St. Vincenz House in Cloppenburg to the Oldenburg Gertrudenheim in 1934 and to the Blankenburg monastery in 1937. Otto Evers died there of insufficient nutrition and care on April 13, 1938 at the age of 12.

Alfons Evers was born in Deindrup near Vechta in 1926. Together with his two siblings, the boy, classified as mentally handicapped, was moved from the St. Vincenz House in Cloppenburg to the Oldenburg Gertrudenheim in 1934 and to the Blankenburg monastery in 1937. His siblings died in Blankenburg Abbey in 1938 and 1940 respectively. Alfons Evers was transferred to the Erlangen sanatorium (HuPflA) on September 19, 1941 , where he also died of euthanasia on March 18, 1943.

Nov 8, 2011 Georg Harbers was born on December 8, 1908 as the third child of a farming family in Woppenkamp near Bockhorn . Due to his mental handicap, he was given care in the Reddersen house near Bremen in 1910 , where he grew up and was able to stay later. During the Nazi era , he was forcibly sterilized in 1937 . In 1939 he had to leave the Reddersen house, which was in the process of being dissolved , and was placed in the Bremen mental hospital , and after a few months then in the Gertrudenheim in the Blankenburg monastery . There he died on August 3, 1941 as a victim of euthanasia. A stumbling block was also laid for Georg Harbers in Bremen. His grave was discovered during research in the cemetery of the Blankenburg monastery.

Feb 22, 2017 Johann Gerdes was born on April 16, 1896 in Groß Bornhorst . Since 1920 he was a member of the KPD . In 1923 he emigrated to Brazil, but returned in 1927. In 1930 he became a council member in Ohmstede . In 1932 he moved into the Oldenburg state parliament for the KPD and took a seat on the petitions committee. On the morning of March 3, 1933, SA men lured him out of his apartment, beat him and fired five shots at him. He died as a result of these injuries on March 5, 1933.
