In Vienna there are numerous markets that shape the supply of the population to a large extent.

The 26 Viennese markets accommodate 900 permanent market operators on their 90,000 square meters total market area, 600 daily market buyers (farmers and traders) and 4,000 employees. The Viennese markets generate a turnover of 300 million euros and thus 4 percent of the total turnover of Viennese retailers. 21 markets take place every day from Monday to Saturday.
