Wiedweg
location
KG: Wiedweg
The Protestant church of Wiedweg, which was elevated to a parish in 1954, was mentioned for the first time in 1787. Today's building, which is surrounded by cemetery walls, was built in 1844 by Simon Pirker (from Villach). The church tower in the west with a pointed roof, built in 1898, is presented to the facade and has three arcade openings. The first floor of the tower is open as a vestibule. On the outside, the nave shows a three-part pilaster structure with large, arched windows. The pilasters are connected to one another by a plaster tape under the cornice. There are grooved pilaster strips at the corners. Inside, the three-bay nave is vaulted by a flat barrel with stitch caps. The side parts of the west gallery extend far into the room. The round arched triumphal arch leads to the strongly recessed choir, the height of which is less than that of the nave. The altar is designed in neo-baroque forms and connected to the sermon chair. The organ dates from 1868.
