List of Swedish Members of the European Parliament (1995–1999)

The list of Swedish members of the EU Parliament (1995–1999) lists all Swedish members of the 4th European Parliament who were initially sent to the EU Parliament when Sweden joined the EU at the beginning of 1995, as well as all members who were in Sweden entered the EU Parliament in 1995 .
When Sweden joined the EU on January 1, 1995, it sent 22 members to the EU Parliament. The distribution of seats was based on the last election results of the Swedish parliament in 1994 .
The three new EU members Finland, Austria and Sweden were required to hold regular European elections within 2 years of joining the EU on January 1, 1995. Sweden was the first of the three countries to do this on September 17, 1995. The distribution of seats changed considerably in some cases. The Social Democrats lost four seats, while the Greens and Left won seats. The Christian Democrats even lost their only seat up to that point. From October 8, 1995, MEPs took up their mandate in the European Parliament.
