Kristina Persson (born April 16, 1945 in Östersund ) is a Swedish politician . She belongs to the Swedish Social Democratic Labor Party . In the Löfven I government , she was Minister for Strategic Development and Minister for Nordic Cooperation from October 2014 to May 2016.

Political career

In 1991 and from 1993 to 1995 she was a member of the Social Democrats in the Swedish Parliament for the constituency of Stockholm. From January 1, 1995 to October 8, 1995 she was a member of the European Parliament.

From 1995 to 2001 she was Governor ( Landshövding ), from 2001 to 2007 Deputy Governor of Jämtland County .

Since 2007 she has been chairman of the Norden Vereinigung and the Think Tank Global Challenge , which she founded in 2005.

Term of office

Kristina Persson became Minister for Strategic Development and Minister for Nordic Cooperation in the Löfven I government in October 2014. After a cabinet reshuffle in May 2016, she is no longer a member of the government. Her post as Minister for Strategic Development was abolished, and Margot Wallström succeeded her as Minister for Nordic Cooperation .

Area of ​​responsibility

To promote strategic development, Kristina Persson set up working groups on the future of work , transition to a green society, and competition and global collaboration . Their task was to develop holistic approaches to the challenges Sweden will have to face in the next 20 years.
