Ann Linde (born December 4, 1961 in Helsingborg ) is a Swedish politician ( SAP ) and Foreign Minister in the Löfven II government .

Life

After finishing school, Linde worked for various student organizations and from 1984 to 1988 she was Secretary General of Landsrådet för Sveriges Ungdomsorganer , an association of Swedish youth organizations that was then dominated by the youth organizations of the parties. 1994 joined Linde her studies in political science , sociology and economics at the University of Stockholm from.

Between 1994 and 1998 Linde was an advisor to the Minister for Foreign Trade and EU Affairs Mats Hellström and the Defense Minister Björn von Sydow . From 1999 to 2000 she worked for the parliamentary group of the Social Democrats. In 2000 Linde became secretary for international affairs at the Social Democratic Labor Party . From 2013 to 2014 she headed the international department of the Party of European Socialists .

In 2014 she moved to the Swedish Ministry of the Interior as State Secretary . During a government reshuffle in May 2016, Linde took over the newly created office of EU and Trade Minister assigned to the Foreign Ministry. After the 2018 Reichstag elections , she became Minister of Trade and Minister for Nordic Cooperation in the Löfven II government . After Margot Wallström's resignation as Foreign Minister, Ann Linde became the new Swedish Foreign Minister on September 10, 2019.
