Philippe Goffin (2019)

Philippe Goffin (born April 1, 1967 in Liège- Rocourt) is a Belgian politician ( Mouvement Réformateur ). Since 2019 he has been the state's foreign and defense minister.

Life

Goffin studied law at the Université catholique de Louvain . After graduating in 1992, he studied another year in order to obtain the license en notariat required for the profession of notary . He then worked as a notary from 1993 to 2010 .

From 2000 to 2019 he was mayor of the municipality of Crisnée . He has been a member of the Belgian Chamber of Deputies since 2010 . When the previous Foreign and Defense Minister Didier Reynders became EU Commissioner for Justice and the Rule of Law , Goffin succeeded him on November 30, 2019.
