Paul de Favereau

Paul Louis Marie Célestin de Favereau (born January 15, 1856 in Liège , Wallonia , Belgium , † September 26, 1922 in Durbuy-Bende , Province of Luxembourg , Belgium) was a Belgian politician of the Katholieke Partij , long-time Foreign Minister and President of the Senate .

biography

After attending school, he studied law and received his doctorate and the doctorate in law .

He began his political career as a member of the Chamber of Deputies . There he represented the interests of the Marche-en-Famenne arrondissement as a member of the Katholieke Partij between 1884 and 1900 .

In February 1896 he was appointed foreign minister in his cabinet by Prime Minister Paul de Smet de Naeyer . He held this office under his successor Jules Vandenpeereboom and in the second government of de Smet de Naeyers until May 1907. After leaving the cabinet, he was awarded the honorary title of Minister of State on May 1, 1907 .

At the same time he was a member of the Senate between 1900 and 1922 , where he represented the interests of the Province of Luxembourg. He was also President of the Senate from November 14, 1911 until his death.
