Adolphe de Vriere
Adolphe Pierre Aloïs de Vrière, Baron de Vrière (* 9. April 1806 in Bruges , France , today: Belgium ; † 16th July 1885 in Laeken / Laken ) was a Belgian diplomat and politician , who from 1857 to 1861 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium was and who was awarded the honorary title of Minister of State in 1861 .
Life
Adolphe Pierre Aloïs de Vrière was a son of the politician Aloïs de Vrière, in the hereditary nobility of 1825 baron was raised and the 1830-1835 Alderman of Bruges was. He studied law at the University of Leiden and was after the Belgian Revolution in October 1830 district commissioner in the district of Bruges and subsequently in 1831 legation secretary at the legation in the Kingdom of Prussia and the Kingdom of Saxony . He was then between 1841 and 1845 Chargé d' affaires of the embassy in the Kingdom of Denmark and from 1845 to 1847 at the embassy in the Kingdom of Portugal , before he was last envoy to the Kingdom of Portugal in 1847 .
After his return, Adolphe de Vrière inherited the title of Baron de Vrière from his father, who died in 1847, and was subsequently governor of the province of Namur between 1847 and 1848 . He was then Governor of the Province of Hainaut from 1848 to 1849 and Governor of the Province of West Flanders between 1849 and 1857 . In 1857 he became a member of the Chamber of Deputies , to which he belonged until 1870. On November 9, 1857, he took over the post of Foreign Minister in the third government of Prime Minister Charles Rogier . He held the office of Foreign Minister until his resignation on October 26, 1861, after which Prime Minister Rogier also took over this office. The reason for his resignation was his refusal to recognize the Kingdom of Italy , which he saw as an attack on the Papal States . On November 4, 1861, he was awarded the honorary title of Minister of State .
He was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Leopold and the Iron Cross in 1830 for his services .
