Marc Cucurella Saseta (born July 22, 1998 in Alella ) is a Spanish football player . He is under contract with Getafe FC and has been a Spanish U21 international since September 2019 .

Career

society

Before Marc Cucurella joined the youth team at Espanyol Barcelona in 2006 , he played futsal for his hometown club FS Alella . In 2012 he moved to the academy of city rivals FC Barcelona . He made his debut for the reserve team, FC Barcelona B in the third highest Spanish division , on November 26, 2016 in a 4-0 home win against CE l'Hospitalet . In season 2016/17 he played 17 appearances and won with Barça B promotion to the second-rate Segunda División . On July 7, 2017, Cucurella extended his working paper to 2021. On October 24, 2017, he made his debut for the first team when he came on as a substitute for Lucas Digne in the 3-0 Cup victory over Real Murcia in the closing stages . This mission remained his only one for the A-team in the 2017/18 season. He scored his first goal for the B-team on March 17, 2018 against Lorca FC . At the end of this 2017/18 season , in which he made 37 league appearances, he had to accept relegation to the third division with the B-team.

On August 31, 2018, Cucurella was loaned to the first division club SD Eibar until the end of the 2018/19 season. He made 31 appearances (26 from the start) in the league and scored one goal. After the end of the season, SD Eibar acquired the transfer rights to Cucurella by option for 2 million euros.

In mid-July 2019, FC Barcelona acquired the transfer rights back to Cucurella for 4 million euros using a buyback option. He then switched to Getafe FC on loan for the 2019/20 season , which secured a purchase option of 6 million euros, whereby FC Barcelona would have received 40 percent of the transfer fee if they were resold. At Getafe FC, Cucurella developed into a regular player under head coach José Bordalás . At the end of June 2020 - due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the season was not yet over at this point in time - Getafe FC acquired the transfer rights to Cucurella for 10 million euros, with FC Barcelona being entitled to only 10 percent of the transfer fee for a resale. In the 2019/20 season, Cucurella played 37 league games in which he scored one goal and six assists.
