Francisco Portillo Soler (born June 13, 1990 in Málaga ) is a Spanish football player .

Career

Portillo was born in Malaga and started playing football there. Since 2006 he has been playing for the local Spanish first division club Málaga in the youth department. At the age of 18 he made the jump to Málaga's second team, Atlético Malagueño . After a season there, he first drew attention to himself in preparation for the 2009/10 season and made his first-team league debut six months later, in January 2010. The following summer he extended his contract with the Andalusians for three years until the end of the 2012/13 season.

After the takeover of the club by Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani , many well-known players were signed at the beginning of the 2011/12 season, of which Portillo, in particular Santi Cazorla and Joaquín, made it almost impossible to earn a regular place. He had played 17 league games in the previous season, now there have been two. When Al Thani released the club for sale again in August 2012, many well-known players had to leave the club due to the financially strained situation, so that Portillo was part of the permanent staff in the 2012/13 season. Despite the personal change, he reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League with the team .

On January 15, 2015 Portillo moved to the end of the season on loan in the Segunda División to Betis Sevilla .
