Lena Micko (* 1955 in Umeå ) is a Swedish politician from the social democratic party Socialdemokraterna . She has been the Minister for Administration and Consumer Affairs in her country since October 2019.

Life

After graduating from the Cathedral School in Linköping, Micko studied French at Linköping University from 1974 to 1975 . Between 1979 and 1991 she was an employee of the Linköping municipality. From 1992 to 1999 she worked as a cost center manager for labor market and personnel issues.

She then became a so-called Kommunalråd , i.e. a member of the executive branch of the City of Linköping. Between 2001 and 2006, she was in charge of the Kommunstyrelse executive body before serving as its deputy head until 2014. From 2014 to 2015 she was again the first chair. Between 2015 and 2019 she was the deputy chairwoman of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions and at the same time head of the Swedish municipal and regional association Sveriges Kommuner och Regioner .

On October 1, 2019, Micko was appointed Minister of Public Administration and Consumer Affairs in the Löfven II government after her predecessor Ardalan Shekarabi moved to another ministry.
