Jennie Nilsson (* 1972 in Hylte ) is a Swedish politician from the Socialdemokraterna . Since January 2019 she has been the Minister for Rural Areas in the Löfven II government .

Life

After attending secondary school in Halmstad until 1990 , Nilsson worked as a nursing assistant until 2001. Between 1994 and 2006 she was a member of the Hylte parish council. From 2001 onwards she headed the local council and was a so-called Kommuneråd , i.e. a member of the municipality's executive branch . In the parliamentary elections in 2006 she entered the Swedish parliament, the Riksdag , for the first time . She was re-elected in the following parliamentary elections. In parliament she was, among other things, deputy chairwoman of the tax committee from 2011 to 2012 and chairwoman of the industry and trade committee in the legislative period from 2014 to 2018.

On January 21, Jennie Nilsson was appointed Minister for Rural Areas in the new government of Stefan Löfven . This post is one of two ministerial posts within the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation.

Private

Nilsson lives in Halmstad and has two children.
