List of historical ethnographic questionnaires

This list of historical ethnographic questionnaires contains ethnographic questionnaire ( English ethnographic questionnaire , French questionnaire ethnographiques ) with ready-made questions on field research in ethnology (ethnology) and anthropology (human studies). Such questionnaires were particularly widespread during the colonial era .

Many colonial institutions or related organizations have developed and published their own questionnaires. Some had multiple editions or editions, for example the sixth edition of the Notes and Queries of the Royal Anthropological Institute in London appeared in 1951, the first edition was entitled Notes and queries on anthropology: for the use of travelers and residents in uncivilized lands (" Anthropology Notes and Questions: For the Use of Travelers and Residents in Uncivilized Areas ”) and was published in 1874 by the Royal College of Surgeons of England . A.) - At the beginning of the book, three committees are named in a list of committees that were involved in the creation: the General Committee ( British Association for the Advancement of Science , Section H), the Sub-Committee on Sociology (British Association for the Advancement of Science, Section H) and the Committee of the Royal Anthropological Institute for the Publication of Notes and Queries on Anthropology (Sixth Edition). Members of the various committees were HJ Fleure , WE Le Gros Clarke , EE Evans-Pritchard , D. Forde , JH Hutton , AR Radcliffe-Brown , R. Firth , M. Fortes , John L. Myres and, last but not least, Brenda Z. Seligman (1883-1965), the wife of Charles Gabriel Seligman , who died in 1940 , who also wrote the foreword.
