This is a list of guide - lines . The list does not claim to be up-to-date or complete. It also contains rows that are no longer appearing. The main focus of the list is to form more comprehensive series that have achieved supra-regional awareness, are not narrowly regionally limited and attach importance to the presentation of the art and cultural history of the country visited or the region shown, less to restaurants , hotels or transport connections ( road maps etc.) specialized guides. Many texts from older travel guides are now in the public domain and have been digitized. A traditional series in German-speaking countries, for example, are the Baedeker travel guides , in France the Guides Bleus ( Die Blauen Führer ) published by Hachette , and in Switzerland Nagels travel guides .
