The place is about five kilometers north of Berkhamsted . Nearby villages and hamlets include Ashridge Park , Aldbury, Great Gaddesden, Gaddesden Row, Frithsden, Nettleden, Potten End, Ivinghoe, Northchurch, Ringshall, Studham, Dudswell, Wigginton, Dagnall and Flamstead.

Little Gaddesden and the surrounding area are known primarily as the location for numerous films and television productions. Here were, among others, Midsomer Murders , Lewis (TV series), Stardust (2007), Harry Potter , Cranford (TV series), Henry VIII. (TV series), The Dirty Dozen (1967), First Knight ( 1995) and shot parts of the Robin Hood film with Russell Crowe.
