The Little Missouri State Park is a state park in the US state of North Dakota . The park is 17 miles north of Killdeer on Highway 22. The 1,858-acre park is located in the North Dakota Badlands , a rugged landscape of mountain cones, plateaus, canyons and crevasses created by erosion from wind and water. In the north of the park, the Little Missouri River has dug a canyon 150 meters deep, from which it flows into Lake Sakakawea . The Sioux called the area Mako Shika , which means "where the land breaks off".

Mule deer , coyotes , bobcats and golden eagles can be found in the park . Only sage , yucca palms and cacti grow in the dry badlands .
Tourist facilities
The park has a campsite with horse gates for visitors. More than 120 kilometers of paths lead through the park, but they can only be used by riders or hikers.
