The Lixin Ri ( Chinese 立新 峰 ; English Lixin Peak ; former names: Kellas Rock Peak and Peak 7071 ) is a 7078 m (according to other sources 7113 m ) high mountain in the Himalayas in the district of Dingri of the Shigatse administrative district in the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China .
The Lixin Ri is located 13.7 km north of Mount Everest . The lower end of the Eastern Rongpu Glacier is on its southern flank. The secondary peak Lixin Ri II ( 6869 m ⊙ ) is 1.44 km further east. The Khartachangri ( 7093 m ) rises in the east at a distance of 5.88 km.
The mountain was first climbed in 1921 or 1922. The mountain was at that time in honor of the late mountaineer Alexander Kellas the name Kellas Rock Peak given. The second ascent was made by Eric Shipton , Edmund Wigram and Bill Tilman as part of the British exploration expedition of 1935 .
