Elizabeth "Liz" Irving (born February 7, 1965 in Brisbane ) is a former Australian squash player .

Career

Liz Irving celebrated her greatest career success in 1993 when she reached the final of the World Cup in Johannesburg . In this she was clearly defeated by her compatriot Michelle Martin with 2: 9, 2: 9 and 1: 9. In 1988 she was in the final of the British Open , which she lost to Susan Devoy . In 1994 and 1995 she was also in the final, but also lost these two games to Michelle Martin. She reached her highest ranking in the world rankings with second place in May 1988. With the Australian national team she took part in six world championships and was four times world champion with her. Liz Irving also became world champion in mixed with compatriot Dan Jenson in 1997 . In the final in Hong Kong they defeated the English duo Cassie Jackman and Chris Walker . She played her last game as an active player in 2002.

Liz Irving has been a squash trainer since the end of her career. She lives in Amsterdam under coached Vanessa Atkinson and currently Nicol David . Irving is a member of the Squash Australia Hall of Fame .
