Lyudmila Petrovna Schachotko ( Russian Людмила Петровна Шахотько , Belarusian Людміла Пятроўна Шахоцька * 15. July 1940 in Rzhev , Russia ; † 23. October 2016 in Minsk , Belarus ) was a Belarusian demographer , economist , sociologist , geographer , the main scientific employee of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus , Professor at the Belarusian State University Minsk, Belarusian Maxim Tank State Pedagogical University, Institute of Administration and Management in Minsk, Administration Academy under the President of the Republic of Belarus .

Professional

In 1962 Shachotko completed her studies in geography with a focus on economic geography at the Belarusian State University in Minsk. From 1962 to 1981 she was a research assistant at the Scientific Research Institute for Economy of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Minsk , Belarus . In 1972 Shachotko received his doctorate from the Belarusian State Economic University. From 1981 to 1991 she worked as a senior research assistant at the Institute of Economy of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. From 1991 to 1994 she was a senior research assistant at the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. There he completed his habilitation in the field of sociology in 1997 . From 1994 to 2004 she was deputy director for science and department head for demographic research and population employment at the Institute for Statistics.

From 2004 until the end of his life, Shachotko was the main scientific employee of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. For the past 30 years she has taught demography at various universities in Belarus.

  • Research into the socio-economic problems of the family, marriage, divorce, reproductive guidelines, health, life expectancy and mortality, migration processes.
  • Elaboration of census programs.
  • Methods of population forecasting.
  • Forecasting the development of demographic processes.
  • Problems of demographic security, regulation of demographic processes, the concept of population policy
