Llorenç Serra Ferrer (born March 5, 1953 in Sa Pobla , Mallorca ) is a Spanish football coach .

Career

Ferrer was coach of RCD Mallorca in 1985 and was able to achieve promotion to the Primera División with the club . After eight years at RCD Mallorca, he became the coach of Betis Sevilla in 1993 . He also helped this club to move up to the Primera División 1994. In the following season he was able to achieve an excellent third place with Betis, which could qualify for the 1995/96 UEFA Cup .

In 1997 he moved to FC Barcelona , where he coached the youth department until 2000. After Barcelona split from Louis van Gaal in 2000 , Ferrer became FC Barcelona’s head coach for the 2000/01 season . This season started disappointingly with an early exit in the first group stage of the Champions League . When Barça lost 3-1 to CA Osasuna on Matchday 31 this season and slipped to fifth place in the league, Ferrer was fired and replaced by Carles Rexach .

In 2004 he was hired again as a coach at Betis Sevilla. In the 2004/05 season he was able to win the Spanish Cup and reach fourth place in the league, which qualified for participation in the Champions League .

Between summer 2006 and February 2008 he was the coach of AEK Athens .
