The Lloyd LP 250 is a small car produced by Lloyd Motoren Werke GmbH in Bremen . The chassis and body largely correspond to those of the Lloyd LP 400 . The main difference is the two-cylinder two- stroke engine, reduced to 251 cm³ (cylinder bore 50 mm instead of 62 mm), whose output of 11 hp (8.1 kW at 5000 rpm) is even lower than that of the already weak LP 400.

The Lloyd LP 250 was called the "test anxiety car" because it was allowed to be driven with a class 4 driving license ("vehicles ... up to 250 cm³"), which was issued until 1954 . When this category of driving license was introduced, probably nobody thought of four-seater passenger cars with such a small displacement.

Like the Lloyd 400, the LP 250 had a central tubular frame, front-wheel drive and front wheels individually suspended from transverse leaf springs. The engine and a non-synchronized three-speed gearbox with stick shifting were installed side by side across the front axle. At the rear the car had a pendulum axle with longitudinal leaf springs.

Unlike the Lloyd 400, the Lloyd with a 250 cc engine was only available as a sedan. Therefore it always bears the additional designation LP .

When the Lloyd LP 250 was offered in June 1956, it cost 2,980.00 DM, but with less equipment than the LP 400 without hubcaps, bumpers, headliner and rear seats. These parts could be retrofitted. The heating was built in as standard, but was charged extra at 60.00 DM in order to keep the price below 3000.00 DM. With full equipment (LP 250 V), which was only available from April 1957, the car cost 3,350.00 DM including heating or the same as the LP 400.

3768 LP 250 and LP 250 V were built.
