The Lobaye (formerly Lobai or Lobaje) is a river in the Central African Republic .

It is an approximately 440 km long tributary of the Ubangi . The river has its source in the central African city of Bouar called Bali. It finally flows into the Ubangi in Lobaye Prefecture opposite the city of Libenge . The Boukokodamm , which was built to irrigate the surrounding fields , lies on one of its tributaries .

Average monthly flow through the Lobaye measured at the hydrological station in Mbato, about 40 km above the confluence with the Ubangi in m³ / s (1950–1994).

The Basse-Lobaye am Lobaye biosphere reserve is home to a subspecies of the green colobus monkey .
