Loch Heilen is a freshwater lake in the Scottish Council Area Highland or the traditional county of Caithness . It is located about eight kilometers southeast of Dunnet and 25 kilometers east of Thurso . At Dunnet is St John's Loch .

Loch Heilen has a roughly L-shaped outline with a maximum length of 1.2 kilometers and a maximum width of 1.0 kilometers, resulting in an area of 78 hectares and a circumference of four kilometers. The shallow lake has a volume of 622,764 kiloliters . Its catchment area is 398 hectares. Loch Heilen has an average depth of only 0.8 meters and a maximum depth of 1.5 meters. On the north bank the small Burn of Inkstack flows off, which drains over the Burn of Ham near Brough into the Pentland Firth .
