The Loewenstein Peak is a 1539 m high and ice-free mountain in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . Rising 1.2 km northeast of Vashka Crag , it is the westernmost of a series of mountains that mark the watershed in the eastern Cruzen Range .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 2005 after Robert F. Loewenstein of the Yerkes Observatory , who was involved in 13 astrophysical campaigns of the United States Antarctic Program at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station between 1991 and 2004 .
