history

From 1981 to 1984 there was a discotheque logo in downtown Essen . In 1985 it reopened in the neighboring city of Bochum. The Logo II was Hans-Joachim Hauschulz and Alexander students in the premises of the former Basement 7 opened. Both had already made their first experiences with the operation of discotheques, Hauschulz as operator of the Essen logo, pupil as operator of Appel in Langendreer (the later discotheque incident ). In keeping with the spirit of the times, they furnished the shop in a spartan industrial style. The counter and the DJ booth were screwed together entirely from scaffolding and metal grids, the dance floor was in a kind of cage.

Logo was regarded as a club in which the current musical trends were picked up and which was frequented by the corresponding guests. Initially by, among others, Goths (or Goths ), in the late 1980s by hip-hoppers, garage rockers, first ravers and grunge fans, often at the same time. In the years 1989-90, the readers of Spex magazine always voted for the logo among the 5 “best clubs in the west”.

Hauschulz and Schüler as well as Frank Nokielski, who joined in 1987 as a third partner, expanded the operating company Logos GmbH into the Logos Group and participated in the growth of Bochum's Bermuda3eck .

From 2004 to 2012, revival events took place about twice a year in the rooms of the former Logo, which now housed the “Stargate” club, under the title Logo Club Revisited , at which Logo DJ Ralf Odermann played the music from back then.
