The Lohmühlenbach is a 786 meter long stream and a tributary of the Wupper , which has its source near Wuppertal - Sondern . It flows in the Wuppertal district of Langerfeld-Beyenburg .

etymology

The etymological origin after the old place name Lohmühle comes from the Beyenburger Lohmühle , after which a street is named "Lohmühle".

topography

The source of the brook is not exactly localized because it only pours temporarily. It is located in the immediate vicinity of a residential building at around 272 meters above sea level , the roof drainage of which discharges the Lohmühlenbach today.

The stream then flows through a meadow oat meadow in a north-northwest direction and is accompanied by a wide border of wood and tall perennials. Around 190 meters after the source, the brook is piped for a distance of 197 meters, crossing under a valley backfill that is used as an intensive pasture. The backfill reaches a maximum height of 20 meters. After the piping, the stream flows back in its original stream bed and is again accompanied by a high perennial border. At the location of the former Beyenburger Lohmühle, the stream now seeps through the filled Lohmühlenteich and then flows through an extensively used pasture. Here it receives an inflow through the 224 meter long rose hip depths.

Around 620 meters after the source, the stream is piped under the street “In der Grüne” and then under the track of the disused Lennep-Krebsöge – Rauenthal (“Wuppertalbahn”) railway and emerges again into a garden. It flows a short distance through a garden and pasture and is then piped up to the confluence with the Wupper at a height of around 205 meters.

The Barmer line of the Bergische Landwehr crossed the stream in the lower reaches.
