Lois Wilson (born June 28, 1894 in Pittsburgh , † March 3, 1988 in Reno , Nevada ) was an American actress .

Live and act

Wilson initially aspired to become a teacher. She got in touch with the film industry when she won the Miss Alabama title in 1915. This event was sponsored by the film production company Universal on the occasion of the opening of the film city Universal City.

Then she took on leading roles in various films for a decade and a half. She was best known in 1922 as Molly Wingate in the large-scale western The Caravan and in 1926 as Daisy Buchanan in the first film adaptation of the novel The Great Gatsby .

In 1928 she made her theater debut in Los Angeles . With the end of her film career, she went to New York in 1937 and continued her theater career there. Most recently, she acted several times in television series. She bequeathed all of her memorabilia to Kent State University , which then introduced a Lois Wilson Day in her honor.
