The Počerady – Vrskmaň railway was a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated as a state-guaranteed local railway Potscherad – Wurzmes (Czech: Místní dráha Počeradec – Vrskmany ). It ran in northern Bohemia from Počerady ( Potscherad ) to Vrskmaň ( Wurzmes ).

history

On November 2, 1881 Messrs. Marcus Stein and Adolf Löw “were given the right to build and operate a standard-gauge local train from the Potscherad station of the Pilsen – Priesen (–Komotau) railway via Habran, Kleinpriesen and Trubschitz to Wurzmes the Aussig-Teplitz Railway " granted. Part of the concession was the obligation to start construction of the line immediately and to finish it “ within a year ”. The concession was issued for a period of 90 years. The company's share capital totaled 900,000 guilders . 4,500 ordinary shares of 200 guilders each were issued. The line was opened on March 1, 1887. The operation was carried out by the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) on behalf of the Potscherad – Wurzmes local railway . After the First World War, the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) took the place of the kkStB .

On May 30, 1923, the local railway Potscherad – Wurzmes was acquired by law from the Czechoslovak state. From then on, the line was part of the ČSD network.

After the Sudetenland was annexed to Germany in autumn 1938, the line came to the Deutsche Reichsbahn , Reichsbahndirektion Dresden . The connection was now included in the Reich curriculum as KBS 167p Potscherad – Wurzmes. After the end of the Second World War , the line came back to the ČSD.

In 1960, the continuous train traffic had to because of the expansion of lignite - opencast mines dul January Šverma and dul Vršany be set. In the last timetable from 1959/60, there were still six pairs of passenger trains , all of which ran as motorized trains. The Vrskmaň – Havraň section was then used as a connecting line for the brown coal mines. This remaining operation was finally given up in 1984 in connection with the re-routing of the Ústí nad Labem – Chomutov railway between Třebušice and Chomutov (" Ervěnický koridor ").

Today most of the route has been closed and dismantled. Only the four kilometer long Počerady – Polerady section still exists as a connecting railway.
