Lola Braccini (actually Camilla Cariddi ; born March 28, 1889 in Pisa , † March 19, 1969 in Rome ) was an Italian actress .

Life

Braccini began her theater career in 1912 as a minor actress as a permanent member of the Teatro Argentina in Rome , which was directed by Cesare Dondini . In the following season they signed Arturo Falconi / Luigi Zoncada ; she played the second queens after Giovanna Scotto . In 1914/1915 she was seen with Irma Gramatica , Luigi Carini , Antonio Gandusio and Ugo Piperno , then (again as the second lady) with Piperno next to Lyda Borelli . For five years, until 1922, Braccini was the leading actress in the ensemble around Antonio Gandusio. For many years she was freelance in various companies in the 1930s: With Dina Galli and again Gandusio in 1930; 1934 in the Compagnia degli Spettacoli at the side of Marcello Giorda and Giulio Donadoni ; the following year with Renzo Ricci and Luigi Carini; 1937 alone with Ricci.

In 1939, with her specialization in mother roles, which she realized in the theater group around Dina Galli , a new creative period began, during which the film (after only two roles in 1933 and 1936) was in increasing demand. On stage she had celebrated great success in 1942 in such a role as the restless Lady Mannon in Eugene O'Neill's Mourning Elektra under Anton Giulio Bragaglia ; In these and many similar supporting roles she was now to be seen frequently on the screen until 1964, but where her talent was not really challenged. Her stage career also produced remarkable things after the Second World War: Under Luchino Visconti in 1945, the terrible parents their "Aunt Léo"; ten years later a beautiful production of “Gigi” under Giorgio Di Lullo and in the same year her participation in Buonanotte, Bettina von Garinei and Giovannini, which is made up of many well-known stars .

Braccini was also active as a voice actress (inter alia for Ethel Barrymore , Marguerite Moreno and Florence Bates ) . A rare television appearance was made in 1954 for Madre allegria , one of the first comedies to be broadcast, directed by Anton Giulio Majano .
