The Long Valley is an icy and 10 km long valley in the west Antarctic Marie-Byrd-Land . In the Queen Maud Mountains , it extends from Mount Blackburn in a north-westerly direction to the Griffith Glacier .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it using its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1967 after Walter H. Long Jr. (1925-1996), aerial photographer of the VX flight squadron -6 in Operation Deep Freeze in 1966 and 1967.
