Klaus Nürnberger

Klaus Nürnberger (born June 13, 1939 ; † April 30, 2016 ) was a German basketball trainer and official.

career

Nürnberger is one of the pioneers of basketball in the city of Wolfenbüttel . He ended his playing career early and became a coach. He was the holder of the trainer's license for the German Basketball Federation (DBB) with ID number 1. In 1963, MTV Wolfenbüttel won the German youth championship under Nuremberg's leadership, and Jürgen Wohlers , Volkmar Knopke and Manfred Ammon were among his protégés in the championship team . In 1981 he led the MTV B-youth team, which included his son Kai , to the German runner-up. In 1966, the Wolfenbüttel men's team was part of the first season of the basketball leagueto the clubs participating in the newly introduced top German league, Nürnberger was the team's coach and should continue to shape basketball events in Wolfenbüttel in the decades to come. Among other things, he was also the coach of the MTV women's team, in which his wife Rita also played.

From 1970 to 1973 he was a cash auditor at the German Basketball Federation, and from 1976 to 1982 he was Vice President for Finance at DBB. In 2003 Nürnberger was awarded the gold badge of honor by the DBB for his services to German basketball. In 1970 he received the silver badge of honor from the Lower Saxony Basketball Association.

His son Kai became European champion in 1993 with the German national team.
