The Loppiner See is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, about ten kilometers west of Waren (Müritz) . The eponymous Jabel district of Loppin is located on the north-western shore of the lake. The lake belongs to the municipality of Jabel . The lake is a maximum of 2000 meters long and 900 meters wide. It is a typical elongated glacial channel lake . It was formed during the most recent, the Vistula Ice Age . The tributary of the Lankhagensee flows into the north . The outflow of the lake in the south drains to Jabelschen See . The lake shore is forested in the eastern part, while the western part is used for agriculture. The forest areas in the west belong to the Loppiner thickets and in the south to the Ziegler firs . Not far from the east bank of the lake, the Parchim – Neubrandenburg railway line runs across Jabel . The lake is part of the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide nature park .
