Lorànt German (* 27. October 1975 in Alencon , France as László Matekovics ) is a French actor and writer .

Life

László Matekovics was born in Alençon as the son of a Parisian and a Hungarian . He grew up in Sablé-sur-Sarthe . He showed athletic talent and received a sports scholarship from the football club FC Nantes at the age of twelve . Two years later he gave up the sport and moved to his grandparents in Paris , where he came into contact with the theater scene. His sister later wrote a play for the Parisian theater Théâtre Mouffetard .

From the beginning of the 1990s, Deutsch tried his hand at film as an actor and only received role offers from 1994, including minor supporting roles such as in the drama The White Sheet and the television series Highlander . So he retired, took acting classes and studied Hungarian philosophy and culture. After graduating in 1998, he started an acting career again and has since appeared in films such as Drug Scenes and The Pact of Love: Simone de Beauvoir and Sartre as well as in cartoons The New Adventures of Reineke Fuchs and Asterix and the Vikings as voice actor . For the sports comedy zéros 3 he was in 2003 at the presentation of the French film award César with a nomination as Best Newcomer considered.

On September 9, 2009, after five years of research and writing , his first book was published with a print run of 8,000 copies, Métronome, l'histoire de France au rythme du métro parisien . The book, written together with Michel Lafon, tells the story and rhythm of the Paris subway and was a great success. After just six months, 330,000 copies were sold and by October 2010 over 500,000 copies. The bestseller was adapted into a four-part documentary film series and Deutsch was exposed to great criticism. He was accused of a lack of citability, historical research and distortion of historical information, and conveying monarchical and Catholic ideas and avoiding a historical context.

On October 3, 2009, Deutsch married the French actress Marie-Julie Baup , with whom he has had a daughter since December 2010.
