Lord Forbes
Lord Forbes is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Scotland .
The title is considered to be the oldest still existing, non-subsidiary Lordship of Parliament , the respective lord is therefore the Prime Lord of Scotland .
The respective lord is also the hereditary clan chief of Clan Forbes . The Lords' family seat is Castle Forbes near Alford in Aberdeenshire .
Award
The title was created after 1436 for Sir Alexander Forbes , head of the Forbes clan. The exact date of the award is unknown. A document dated July 12, 1442 proves that he already held the title at this point in time.
Today his descendant Malcolm Forbes, 23rd Lord Forbes holds the title.
