Biggen's life dates are not known. Worbis is mentioned as the place of origin, but it may also have been Italian and was perhaps brought to Northern Germany by Francesco Mitta to work on the new collegiate church of St. Georg in Grauhof. With the exception of two altars from the previous building and a few paintings, the high baroque furnishings of this church originate entirely from Biggen, whereby Mitta's contribution to the conception and Biggen's employee to the execution cannot be defined. He specifically signed the tomb for the provost and builder of the church and monastery Grauhof Bernhard Goeken , who died in 1726 , dated 1731. The pulpit , rich in figures and dated 1721, is considered to be his “splendid masterpiece” . In the books of the monastery Biggen appears from 1720 to 1726 as statuarius noster - "our sculptor".

Other works attributed to Biggen are the grave of the Fischbeck family in the Marktkirche Goslar , the pulpit of the Wöltingerode monastery church and the Nepomuk statue in Wiedelah .

In the Goslar district of Ohlhof , the Lorenz-Biggen-Weg is named after him.
