Lorenz Church (St. Georgen)
The Lorenzkirche is a Protestant church building in St. Georgen in the Black Forest .
History and architecture
The existence of a Lorenzkirche (Laurentiuskirche) can be proven for the first time in 1275 in a tax list of the diocese of Constance .
The current church building was built later. The church tower was rebuilt in 1680 after the tower of the first church had become dilapidated in the 17th century. The nave itself was built after the fire of the first church in 1865 and completed in 1867. The interior of the central nave is approx. 14.25 m high, approx. 19.5 m wide and 33 m long. The adjoining choir is 5.6 m long.
The church tower from the 17th century was spared in the fire. However, it was increased in 1913 in order to achieve a harmonious overall picture. Today he measures 56.6 m.
organ
The organ of the Lorenzkirche was built in 1968 by the workshop organ builder Friedrich Weigle . The slider chests -instrument has 46 registers on three manuals and pedal . The game actions are mechanical, the stop actions are electric.
