Lorenzo Artale

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lorenzo Artale (born January 23, 1931 in Avola , † October 29, 2002 in Rome ) was an Italian screenwriter , film director and actor .

Life

Artale was a student of the acting academy directed by Pietro Sharoff from 1956 to 1959, where he first attended acting courses. He played for the stage, film and radio broadcasts , but soon concentrated on directing and screenwriting . His first own film was made in 1964. The grotesque Edipeon and his two films from 1971 reflect the social conditions at the time they were made. His uncompromising attitude, not to be subordinate to the audience's taste, was praised, but led to the lack of further film offers. Artale then turned to dubbing and founded his own Libera Accademia di Arti Sceniche in 1985 . Soon he became director of the Accademia Pietro Sharoff (until 1994) and worked as an actor and theater director until his death .

His hometown has been awarding a theater prize named after the artist since 2003.
