Platismatia glauca (sometimes also referred to as gray tartsch lichen ) is a species of leaf lichen that iscommon in Central Europeand predominantly colonizes tree bark.
description
Platismatia glauca is broad-lobed (lobe width up to 2 cm), the irregularly growing, sometimes wrinkled thallus usually protrudes clearly from the substrate and is wavy to curled at the edges. The edges are also often soredia or covered with coral-like isidia . The color is light gray to gray on top, often with a bluish tinge or (moist) greenish tinge. The underside of the bearing is usually brown to blackish. Apothecia are rare, then brown in color.
distribution
The species occurs from northern to southern Europe and populates in particular acidic, nutrient-poor bark of deciduous or coniferous trees, and sometimes also silicate rock. It is particularly common in higher, foggy locations.
