Lorenzo Frignani (born February 19, 1960 in Finale Emilia ( Emilia-Romagna , Italy )) is a violin and guitar maker in Modena .

Life

Lorenzo Frignani grew up in Camposanto ( Province of Modena ) as the son of Ilario Frignani and Vanna Luppi and later attended the "Fermi" technical college in Modena. Until 1982 he worked in banking as an electronics technician. At the age of 22 he decided to reorientate his career, after his interest in instrument making had already been fueled at the age of 16 in the workshop of the Modenese guitar maker Masetti. From 1984 to 1986 he attended the violin making school in Gubbio ( Province of Perugia ). After his successful training as a violin maker, he worked independently in Camposanto until 1992, after which he opened a workshop in the center of Parma . In 1996 he moved to Modena, where he still runs his workshop today.

His son was born in Finale Emilia in 1997.

In addition to his activity as a guitar and violin maker, for which he has received numerous awards, Lorenzo Frignani has been teaching as a specialist in instrument making at the arts and crafts school in Pieve di Cento ( Province of Bologna ) since 1996 , where he also held the position of artistic director of the instrument making branch until 2012 . As a member of the ALI ( Associazione Liutaria Italiana ), he has held the office of President and Vice-President since 2001. In 2007 he founded the publishing house LF Edizioni, which deals with specialist literature on everything to do with violin and guitar making and translates foreign-language literature into Italian . He himself primarily writes biographies and publishes catalogs accompanying the exhibition . With one of the most important private collections of historical guitars from Italy, he makes guest appearances throughout Italy, Switzerland and Germany and is considered an expert on plucked instruments of the 19th century.
