Los Frailes (span. Archipiélago de Los Frailes , German meaning archipelago of the monks ) is a group of small islands in the Caribbean Sea , about 20 km northeast of about Venezuela belonging Isla Margarita area. Geographically, the islands belong to the islands under the wind , politically to the Venezuelan federal territories ( Dependencias Federales ).
The uninhabited archipelago consists of ten small, barren rocky cliffs, which together have a land area of only 1.92 km². The largest island in the group is Puerto Real , also known as Fraile Grande . It is 2.2 km long and has an area of 0.75 km².
The islands extend for nine kilometers from north to south (including Roca del Norte):
