Lothar Borschel

Lothar Borschel (born October 27, 1943 in Bernburg ) is a former German cyclist .

Athletic career

Borschel began cycling in 1959 in the BSG Lok Bernburg . After several good places, he received a nomination for the national team in 1965 and drove the Tour of Slovakia , which he finished in 8th place. He won a stage of the Yugoslavia tour and took 4th place in the GDR tour . In 1966 he won the 5th stage of the GDR tour , which he finished in 4th place overall. At the GDR mountain time trial championships , he finished second behind Siegfried Huster .

In 1967 he won the special ranking of the most active driver in the Tour of Romania and was third overall.

When Bernd Patzig won the GDR road racing championships in 1968, he came third. Borschel drove the Tour of Bulgaria and won a stage (20th in the final ranking). This was followed by further assignments on tours abroad. In 1970 he started the International Peace Tour and finished 72.

Borschel started for the SC DHfk Leipzig .
