Lothar Bosse

Lothar Bosse (born June 10, 1914 in Küstrin , Brandenburg province , † August 29, 1996 in Böheimkirchen , Lower Austria ) was an Austrian economic and social statistician .

Life

Bosse worked at the University of Vienna from 1945 and at the Austrian Institute for Economic Research from 1949 . From 1970 to 1981 he was President of the Austrian Central Statistical Office . The Integrated Statistical Information System (ISIS) was created under his leadership. He was also the first managing director of the Institute for Demography, founded in 1975 (today known as the Vienna Institute of Demography, one of the leading international research institutions in population science ). He held this position until 1987 and then retained a seat on the institute's board of trustees until his death. In 1980 he became an honorary member of the phil.-hist. Class of the Austrian Academy of Sciences chosen.
