Gerhart Bruckmann

Gerhart Bruckmann (born January 9, 1932 in Vienna ) is an Austrian scientist, author and politician.

Life

After studying at the Graz University of Technology (Civil Engineering), the Antioch College, USA (economy), the Vienna University of Technology (Actuarial Science) and the University of Vienna (mathematics, statistics, physics) habilitated to Bruckmann 1966 at the University of Vienna in the field of statistics .

From 1957 to 1967 he was a statistical advisor at the Federal Chamber of Commerce , full professor at the Johannes Kepler University Linz 1967–1968, full professor at the University of Vienna 1968–1992, director of the Institute for Advanced Studies Vienna 1968–1973, dean of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences at the University of Vienna 1983–1985, full member of the philosophical-historical class of the Austrian Academy of Sciences since 1972.

He was also President of the Austrian Association of Academics from 1988–1991, President of the Austrian-Italian Society, member of the Club of Rome , Chairman of the Austrian-Japanese Committee for the 21st Century, Austrian Seniors' Union (co-opted into the Federal Board) since 1997, Executive Secretary of the European Seniors Union.

From 1986 to 1994 and from 1999 to 2002 Bruckmann represented the Austrian People's Party in the Austrian National Council (parliament) , most recently as senior spokesman.

Others

Bruckmann became known to a broader public when he appeared in elections as the “supercomputer of the nation” on television and carried out and moderated election extrapolations for Austrian radio using his own calculation models .

Bruckmann is a committed lover of Anker stone building sets and has already been involved in several exhibitions on building sets.

He is also a great friend of the “railroad” transport system.

The Austrian Statistical Society awards a Gerhart-Bruckmann Prize.
